Leader of the market : Micromax or Samsung ?

Both these companies have flooded the market with their top class Smartphones. The first smartphone of Micromax Canvas A110 gained the title as poor man's  Galaxy S3. This was the starting point of the smartphone battle between the two.

Coke Vs. Pepsi
Barcelona Vs. Real Madrid
Intel Vs. AMD
Android Vs. iOS

The next in line may be between Micromax and Korean beast Samsung.

According to the report posted in the Times of India, it states that Micromax occupies the top slot in the Q4, 2014. Based  on the findings of the research firm Canalys, Micromax was the clear leader with the market share of 22% in Q4. Samsung was a close second with 20%. Micromax wooed its customers by introducing the multi-lingual support in its various flagships. It played sensibly by touching the right nerve of the customers .Canalys analyst Rushabh Doshi also praised Lava for launching phones with long lasting battery backup.

Micromax has tapped into the mid level income market in India. According to the research, phones under Rs.6000/- accounted for 23% of smartphone shipments and phones in the range of 6K to 12k were 41%.

Counter Point Research stated that last year in August also Micromax was the leader.

But Samsung has a different story to tell. Asim Warsi ,marketing  VP(mobile business) Samsung, challenges the findings of Canalys. They say according to the findings of GfK firm, Samsung is the clear leader for the fourth quarter and for the full year. 

Samsung has managed to grow its market share in the Indian market to 34.3% in the Q4 of 2014 . For the full year Samsung India market share stands at 35.7% as per GfK , which is accepted by the industry , These are actual retail sales and not shipments . Asim warsi

Who is the leader ?
From the above figures its clear that Micromax leads ,but a word of caution Samsung is quite close.
It doesn't take time  for figures to change .  Lets watch out for 2015 , What these 2 giants have for us .
